The Heartbreak Kid Preview Screening

The Heartbreak Kid. Ben Stiller. The Big Rock Graphics team were lucky enough to be invited to the Macquarie Radio Network’s Sea FM 90.9 preview screening of Ben Stiller’s new movie The Heartbreak Kid last night. Many thanks to WebsiteMaker.us, our oft time partners, for the invite too. We haven’t laughed so hard in a very long time. Cheers guys.

Not only is Ben Stiller in great form, his performance is enhanced further still by the excellent cast, and the Farrelly brothers having not lost their touch either. From the women in his life, being played by Michelle Monaghan and Malin Akerman to Carlos Mencia as Uncle Tito, you’ll enjoy the non-stop hilarity that refuses to let up.

If you liked Something About Mary then you’re going to love The Heartbreak Kid, even if the cast aren’t that well known, they soon will be we’re sure.

We too would like to send our best to Peter Andren’s family, friends and those others he helped along the way. Peter will always be remembered as a man who believed in what’s right for all and was always willing to stand by his decisions.

Thank you for all you’ve done Peter. You empowered more of us to do better through your actions as well as your words, and those will never leave us.

All the best mate. You truely embody the words “Fair Go”.

No Backdown From CSIRO On WiFi Patent

Australian WiFiBrett Winterford, ZDNet Australia.

Australian government research body CSIRO is standing firm on its claims to Wi-Fi patents and refusing to offer any guarantee it won’t sue manufacturers of next generation wireless products.

The Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) was granted US patents in 1996 that acknowledge its efforts in the initial development of wireless technologies.

CSIRO has already successfully used these patents to sue one wireless product manufacturer, Buffalo Technology, for refusing to honour the patent by paying licensing fees.

We thought the CSIRO only studied energy/mining exploration gigs? WiFi is very cool. Cheers uber nerds!

We also find it strange that these corporations are willing to spend resources, in pursuing the use of a technology that is patented, without compensation for said technology. If someone owns the patent then I thought the usual routine was to pay a fee for a licence or to obtain the patent outright?

Come on guys. We buy your products, pay the licence fees and pay for the upgrades. The least you can do is let the cash go around so your next level of technology you want to commercialise gets here a little faster. Reinvest in R&D before you may have to fund it exclusively yourselves?

Super Fit Super Mice

Mighty MouseA genetically engineered “supermouse” has stunned scientists with its physical abilities. The mouse can run up to six kilometres at a speed of 20 metres per minute for five hours or more without stopping, British newspaper The Independent reports.

Scientists say that’s the equivalent of a man cycling at speed up an Alpine mountain without a break.

Genetics. Oh how we wonder at you. The full story goes on to detail that the gene that was manipulated is also a gene humans share. Which is great news for many suffering from anything from obesity to MS.

The greatest fear is of the 500 mice they plan on breeding with the gene modification. Mice plagues are fun enough right now; imagine a plague of super fit super aggressive mice!

Super cats are required next please Mr. Scientist.
